Hey there! I'm James Peden, the proud founder of JP Music Academy. I've always believed that every child has the potential to create beautiful music, and I started this academy to help kids and teens discover that magic in a fun, engaging way.
My passion for music and teaching has driven me to create a supportive environment where young musicians can truly thrive. Over the years, I've seen first hand how learning an instrument can boost confidence, spark creativity, and inspire lifelong passion. I love working with my students one-on-one, setting personalised goals, and watching them progress as they master their favourite tunes.

Why did you choose to teach music?
Prior to founding JP Music, I gained experience in music retail and performed as a soloist while accompanying other artists on keyboard. My goal was to create an income through something I am passionate about, while sharing my knowledge and expertise with my students.
What is your goal when it comes to teaching a student?
Creating lasting memories. I was always eager to attend my piano lessons during my childhood, and the credit goes to my inspiring teacher. It’s my hope that the students I teach feel that same enthusiasm and look forward to their lessons, cherishing the experience of learning from their instructor.

What age is appropriate for my child to start music lessons?
At JP Music we teach students from Prep (age 5) upwards.
How do I choose the right instrument for my child to learn?
We provide a complimentary trial lesson to evaluate the students and determine, which instrument is most suitable for them. During this trial, they can explore multiple instruments to find the one they are most interested in learning.
Is it necessary for the student to have their own instrument when beginning lessons?
If you haven't yet acquired an instrument, we have instruments available at the studio for students to use during lessons. Once they have comfortably adjusted, it would be beneficial for you to consider purchasing an instrument so they can practice at home what they've learned in their lessons.

Our music programs are designed to deliver tangible results. Each instrument features a structured progression across nine levels, much like Karate, where students can achieve their next level by completing tasks and mastering songs. Additionally, we organise song competitions, Student of the Term Awards, Practice Awards, and other incentives to foster a continuous desire for learning among our students.
