For over 7 years, James has dedicated himself to helping students set goals, stay motivated, and ultimately play the songs they've always dreamed of.
At our conveniently located studio on Village Way—right alongside Lakeside Square Shops—we create a nurturing environment where learning becomes an adventure.
Our unique 9-level courses are designed to excite and challenge students as they progress through our signature programs, such as the engaging Guitar Ninjas and the dynamic Keyboard Superstars.
In addition, we offer our vibrant Piano Fiesta Course and specialised AMEB Rock School Guitar and Bass Guitar programs to cater to a wide range of musical interests.
We also extend our passion for music beyond the studio with school programs across Pakenham, Bayles, Koo Wee Rup, Bunyip, and Longwarry, ensuring that the joy of music touches every corner of our community.

James is great and very patient. My teenage son started as a beginner and in a couple of terms is doing really well. James is really good at finding music that the student is interested in.
My son started lesson with JP sounds music school and initially didn’t want to practice that much but after a few one on one lessons he plays every day. I would really recommend his sound school.

Hey there! I'm James Peden, the proud founder of JP Music Academy. I've always believed that every child has the potential to create beautiful music, and I started this academy to help kids and teens discover that magic in a fun, engaging way.
My passion for music and teaching has driven me to create a supportive environment where young musicians can truly thrive. Over the years, I've seen first hand how learning an instrument can boost confidence, spark creativity, and inspire lifelong passion. I love working with my students one-on-one, setting personalised goals, and watching them progress as they master their favourite tunes.

What are your hobbies?
Solo Artist, Remix Producer, Toy Collector, Body Boarding, Riding Electric Scooter, Designing.
Why did you choose to teach music?
Prior to founding JP Music, I gained experience in music retail and performed as a soloist while accompanying other artists on keyboard. My goal was to create an income through something I am passionate about, while sharing my knowledge and expertise with my students.
What is your goal when it comes to teaching a student?
Creating lasting memories. I was always eager to attend my piano lessons during my childhood, and the credit goes to my inspiring teacher. It’s my hope that the students I teach feel that same enthusiasm and look forward to their lessons, cherishing the experience of learning from their instructor.

Lily is a passionate piano teacher with a wealth of experience and a genuine love for inspiring young musicians. With a background that blends classical training with a contemporary flair, she creates a warm, engaging environment where every student can unlock their musical potential. Her personalised approach helps learners embrace challenges and enjoy every step of their musical journey.

Riley is an enthusiastic guitar teacher renowned for his approachable style and knack for making even the most complex techniques accessible. Drawing on extensive performance experience, he fosters a fun and supportive atmosphere that encourages creativity and builds confidence. His lessons are designed to empower students to express themselves and reach new musical heights.

What instruments do you teach?

What is your favourite song to play?
My favourite song to play differs from day to day. One of my current favourites is “Hand In My Pocket”- Alanis Morissette, always fun to play a fun song-a-long!
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies are going to concerts and gigs, supporting local music as well as some of my favourite artists. I also enjoy exploring nature and finding fun places to take my 2 Labradors.
Why did you choose to teach music?
I chose to teach music because it is a tool that can be used to deepen cognitive development in a way that is fun and engaging. It is fun to be able to share my passion and knowledge of music with anyone who is like minded.
What is your goal when it comes to teaching a student?
My goal as a teacher is to create an engaging environment where each of my students is able to express themselves and become the musicians they aspire to be. My aim is to celebrate individuality and encourage each student to build confidence and be proud of who they are and the music they create.

What are your hobbies?
I Like recording my original music and playing gigs with my band, ‘The Bluebirds’. I love footy and video games.
Why did you choose to teach music?
I am passionate about sharing my love of music with others and inspiring them to create great things.
What is your goal when it comes to teaching a student?
My goal as a teacher is to create an engaging environment where My Goal when teaching students is to help them achieve what they thought wasn’t possible and make them feel proud of themselves for learning something new and using it as a creative outlet.
